FAQ
What is Wool-Wax?
Wool-Wax is a lanolin-based rustproofing compound derived from sheep’s wool. It’s self-healing, flexible, and naturally displaces moisture from metal surfaces — making it one of the most effective cavity protection products available.
Do you drill holes?
We strictly do not drill holes. All application is done through factory-installed access points and plugs. Drilling compromises your vehicle’s structure and is completely unnecessary with the right equipment.
Is this safe on a new vehicle?
Yes. Wool-Wax inner cavity service is safe on brand new vehicles and is actually most effective when applied before any rust has a chance to start.
What about heavily used or high-mileage vehicles?
Yes — cavity wax is highly effective on vehicles with any mileage. On heavily used vehicles, it encapsulates existing surface rust and prevents further spread. It’s not just for lightly used or new cars.
My vehicle already has surface rust. Can I still get this done?
Yes. Wool-Wax encapsulates and seals existing surface rust, stopping it from spreading. It’s not a cosmetic fix, but it’s highly effective at halting rust progression inside cavities.
Will it drip or make a mess inside my vehicle?
No. Wool-Wax is applied in controlled amounts and cures in place. It does not drip into your cabin, onto your seats, or through your floors.
How long does the service take?
A full day. Wheels are removed and plastic wheel liners are pulled to access the fenders and quarter panels. Drop off in the morning and pick up by end of day.
How often does it need to be reapplied?
Cavity wax lasts 5 years to a lifetime depending on conditions. We check it every 2 years when you come in for your Woolwax undercoating re-application.
Can I combine this with undercoating?
Yes — and we recommend it. Inner cavity wax protects the inside of panels and cavities while undercoating protects the exposed underbody. Together they give your vehicle complete rust protection.
Note: Toyota and Lexus vehicles require a flat $25 clip fee due to the higher volume of plastic retainer clips used in their panel and liner assembly. If any clips on your vehicle are broken or missing during service, a flat $15 replacement fee applies — we’ll always notify you before proceeding.
